We were project managing the alteration of some thirty apartments and the chapel on the West side of the Palace when our contractors had hastily to be ejected. The chapel (on the far right of this 1809 etching) was required for Princess Diana's body to lie in, in state. Rarely is an architect more forcefully, or poignantly, reminded of the inconvenience his work may bring to the lives of his clients.
